So this week's theme on Idol was 'Popular iTunes Downloads' or something of that nature. This gave the contestants a lot of freedom in song choice and allowed them to finally perform something more modern / mainstream than previous weeks. In addition to writing a short blurb about their performances, I decided to rank them based off of this week's performances as well as their overall status on the show.
9. Megan Joy - "Lights Your Lights Down Low" by Bob Marley
She is clearly still here because she is super attractive. I think her time is up.

8. Matt Giraud - "You Found Me" by The Fray
Not Matt's best. If he was in the bottom 3 after a rather good performance last week, he will most likely be in trouble this week as well.

7. Scott MacIntyre - "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel
Actually one of Scott's best performances. Very stripped down, and vocally better than his previous performance. He may be safe for another week or two.

6. Anoop Desai - "Caught Up" by Usher
Not a very good song choice. He seems to be trying too hard. I like that he politely disagreed with Kara's comment and didn't say anything else when asked to respond. Smart thinking.

5. Lil Rounds - "Surrender" by Celine Dion
The judges were a little too harsh on her. Although it wasn't the best song choice, she sang the hell out of it. Ryan bringing one of her kids up to Randy may have helped her greatly.

4. Allison Iraheta - "Don't Speak" by No Doubt
Suddenly this show became "What Not To Wear"? Who cares if she was wearing a weird outfit? I thought she did a great job, and I was getting really annoyed that the judges cared so much about the outfit.

3. Kris Allen - "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers
Definitely the best performance of the night. Kris has been my favorite contestant this season and he is continuing to grow and impress me every week. It seems like the judges are finally jumping on the bandwagon.

2. Danny Gokey - "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts
A solid emotional performances, but I feel like the judges are over-selling Danny every week. He isn't that good.

1. Adam Lambert - "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry
So sick of this guy. I can't deny that he was amazing last week, but this week he is back to his over the top, theatrical ways. I am convinced that the producers are already set on having a Danny vs. Adam Lambert final...hopefully Kris will be about to break this up *crosses fingers*

What did you think of the performances this week? Who did the best? Who sucked? What did you think of the song choices? Who do you think will be in the Bottom 3? Who do you think will get voted off?? Feel free to share your thoughts!
